Hello From Shanghai!

Well after months and months of planning, speculating, wondering, sleepless nights, hoarding things from Target and saying goodbyes we are finally in Shanghai China. I am going to use this blog to look back on this experience and remember how I was feeling throughout the time that we lived here so I am going to be honest. Normally I try to be pretty positive on this space and I will definitely continue to do that but I can't promise that there wont be some days on this journey that I will come here to vent my frustration and sadness. As always I will be focusing on style, home decorating { I have a whole new house to decorate which is exciting } and as always the day to day happenings of my little world.
SO first things first we survived the 15 hour flight and honestly the kids could not have been better, they both had their little moments { Kael kicking me in the face at about 4 am bc he couldn't get his  ear phones to work and Pippa whining for about 2 hours before finally settling down to sleep } but overall they were champs. I will say it helped that Jays company flies us first class so our seats folded down into beds we had TVs with endless movie options in front of each seat and we were served full course meals dinner and breakfast with little snacks in between. SO if I have to fly 15 hours with a 3 year old and a 1 year old this is the way to do it. I have only been in Shanghai for a week and so far....I am not impressed. Don't get me wrong it is gorgeous and the homes that we have looked at are beautiful, it just not the US. I am such a creature comfort person, I love my BravoTV at night and my quick runs to target and the occasional trip to Homegoods for things I don't really need. So it is hard for me to adjust to having NONE of that here ( well I have Bravo but it isn't my regularly scheduled 11pm Andy Cohen date ) . On the plus side we are staying in a gorgeous gorgeous apartment in Shanghai till we can find a house. I don't love being right down in the city with the two kids because I feel like it makes life so much more hectic but it is just temporary so I am trying to enjoy the hustle and bustle for now. Here are some pics of the temp apartment

Me and my girl on the first leg of the flight..

Kael got to meet the pilot and sit up in the pilots seat he was in heaveeennnnnn she is still talking about it..

Waiting in the United Lounge in San Fran you can't tell in this picture but I just got off the phone with one of my best friends and was sobbing 2 minutes before this picture

Also I invested in a iphone 6 and you are about to see the difference between the Iphone 4 camera and the 6 camera it is truly incredible lol

There is a HUGE construction site outside out window Kael spends a lot of his day watching the men at work..

The view from the apartment is absolutely gorgeous, every room has a wall of windows. I can not get over how big this city is.

Pippa loves the eat her breakfast and watching the city wake up, I equally enjoying laying in bed and looking at the skyline as I fall asleep still can't believe I am in China.

As beautiful as the view is I am not in the market to raise my children downtown so we are hoping to move into something in between. The neighborhood we found I can walk Kael to school and to the grocery store while also being in a neighborhood with other expats and have a backyard for Kael to play in. We have our eyes set on this beauty hoping everything goes smoothly and we can get move in within the next couple of weeks.

On My Bedside Table

We have 20 more days in our beautiful United States of America, how crazy is that?? So many mized emotions. Another crazy thing..for a minute on Tuesday night I forgot I was a Mom and had two kids who would be waking up at 630 and stayed up wayyyyy too late reading What Alice Forgot. It was so good! I was caught in that funny place where you can't put the book down but you also don't want it to end, love that place. This is my 3rd Liane Moriarity book I have read and I am now marking her down as one of my favorite authors. This book is about a woman who wakes up at the gym after falling and bumping her head, confused about everything starting with why she is at the gym. Turns out Alice who wakes up thinking she is 29 and pregnant is actually 39 with three kids and in the middle of a nasty divorce. She has to piece back the events of her life little by little and try to figure out how she became this thin, overly organized, workout obsessed woman. If you are looking for a thought provoking story with great characters this is a great one!

Next Up

I saw the preview for the movie This is Where I Leave You and thought it looked funny ( the cast looks awesome ) While strolling thru Target I saw the book and decided I would read it before going to see it. I love a good family drama story, coming from a large family myself they always make me laugh.

I also ordered Lena Dunhams book from Amazon yesterday I am so excited to read this book I am obsessed with the show Girls. Here is hoping it doesn't disappoint.
